Each day, we have many opportunities to learn new things that will benefit us. Learning is an important task that everyone must do to aim higher in life.
When learning a foreign language such as French, Italian, Spanish, or Portuguese, you must take the educational aspect seriously. It must be taken with much attention because the subject matter has different rules for grammar, conversation, and communication.
For instance Spanish, this language has many rules to follow and requires a person to understand the terminology. Knowing the terminology is powerful toward the individual’s success in mastering the language.
Today, I want to share with you: How To Study Spanish Vocabulary Effectively.
The following ways will explain how to study Spanish vocabulary effectively:
The first way is to make flashcards to memorize verbs
The second way is to create a poster with Spanish nouns, adjectives, adverbs, pronouns, etc.
The third way is to write out sentences in both Spanish and English
First, to study Spanish vocabulary effectively, you should make flashcards to memorize the verbs.
Verbs are important in Spanish communication because they are used extensively in writing and speaking.
You can make flashcards using blank notecards or index cards to write down information. To be successful in this area, you need to write the Spanish verb on 1 side and, on the other side, write the verb in English.
For example: (side 1) Spanish – Trabajar, (side 2) English- To work
So, you will read the word in Spanish and then flip over the card to see the meaning.
Then, you must say to yourself, “Trabajar” means to work, or “Work” means trabajar
Test yourself to see if you remember the meaning of the word. Do this activity back and forth, and remember to read out loud.
By participating in this activity of using Spanish verbs on flashcards, you will begin to retain your memory of understanding this vocabulary concept.
Second, to study Spanish vocabulary effectively, you should create a poster with Spanish nouns, adjectives, adverbs, pronouns, etc.
Making a poster that contains this information helps to learn the words and their meanings.
Learning the words in Spanish with an English translation will give you a better form of communication. You will know what the Spanish word means in English and how to spell it.
To make an easy-to-understand poster, you should do the following:
A. On a black poster, draw a long straight line in the middle
B. Use a black marker for Spanish words
C. Use a red market for English words
D. On 1 side, put all words in Spanish (nouns, adverbs, adjectives, pronouns, etc)
E. On the other side, put all words in English (translated words) besides the Spanish words
F. Read every day the poster out loud and in your mind, recite it!
The poster studying process is helpful because it will help you to read the word in Spanish and, at the same time, know the meaning in English. Do this activity repetiously so you can be more knowledgeable.
Third, to study Spanish vocabulary effectively, you should write sentences in English and Spanish.
Writing the sentences in both languages allows you to practice your vocabulary usage.
Studying Spanish vocabulary will help you to know how to use the words, phrases, and context of the language in real situations. To write out the sentences, you will make sentences in English first and then translate them into Spanish.
The translation of Spanish words, phrases, and vocabulary in sentences helps you to practice the learning of the language in depth. The sentences that you write will also help you to know how to read and speak in conversations.
By writing out the Spanish sentences and then translating them, you will have a good idea of how to understand what terms mean in both languages. Also, you are more inclined to study Spanish vocabulary for grammar in forming long detailed conversations.
In conclusion, if you want to study Spanish vocabulary effectively, you must put in a sufficient amount of time to study the material and then practice it.
Studying Spanish vocabulary requires you to learn the terminology and its meaning. Practicing the vocabulary will push you to memorize the information and use it frequently.
The best way to study Spanish vocabulary is by using the flashcard approach and making sentences in both languages. These two approaches are powerful because I have used them to help me gain fluency in Spanish.
One of the best ways that has helped me to stay active in retaining information in Spanish is by watching TV in the language and also speaking it every day with native speakers. I have also had a positive mindset when using Spanish for conversation and helping others.
